Following the success of its inaugural year, the SSCD Trainee and Development Committee is excited to launch a new cohort of Celiac Future Investigator Research Education Side Chats (FIREside chats), a longitudinal educational and mentorship program supporting the next generation of celiac disease researchers.
The FIREside chats program is open to students, residents, fellows, graduate students, and PhD candidates from a range of disciplines, including medicine, nursing, nutrition, psychology, and other fields, who have an identified celiac disease research project.
Selected trainees will meet virtually as a cohort every three months with established celiac disease research mentors. Sessions will include educational presentations on topics such as preparing research abstracts and posters, developing effective presentations, and writing manuscripts, along with opportunities to share work in progress and receive feedback from peers and mentors.
Meetings will be scheduled around major celiac disease and GI conferences to provide timely opportunities for trainees to prepare presentations and advance their research. Participants will also have opportunities for ongoing mentorship, a travel stipend to DDW, and a short presentation at the annual SSCD meeting.
Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through November 30, 2026. Trainees interested in developing their research skills, connecting with mentors, and becoming more involved in the celiac disease research community are encouraged to apply.
