  • Fellowship Grant Award

    Application Deadline: January 31, 2026

    The Society for the Study of Celiac Disease is pleased to announce the Fellowship Grant Award, a competitive program designed to support the professional development of promising early-career researchers in celiac disease.

    One fellow will be awarded a $16,000 grant to conduct a one-year mentored research fellowship at a CDURP center.

    Fellows will:

    • Conduct a focused research project in celiac disease.
    • Gain mentored training in clinical, translational, or basic science research.
    • Submit work for presentation at a national/international meeting and prepare a manuscript for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Visiting Celiac Disease Fellowship Program

    Application Deadline: January 31, 2026

    The Study of Celiac Disease is proud to announce the Visiting Celiac Disease Fellowship Program, designed to foster the next generation of leaders in celiac disease research and clinical care.

    Through this program, two early-career researchers will each receive a $9,000 fellowship award to spend time at a renowned SSCD Celiac Disease Unit Recognition Program (CDURP) site under the guidance of leading investigators.

    The program offers early-career researchers the chance to experience:

    • Cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical research.
    • State-of-the-art clinical practices in celiac disease.
    • Opportunities for collaboration within the international celiac disease community.
    • Participate in observerships, research projects, and clinical activities at a host site.
    • Engage in mentoring with senior leaders in the field of celiac disease.
    • Build networks that will support long-term academic and professional growth.

     

  • Reimbursement Grant for Certificate of Training in Treating Gluten-Related Disorders

    Application Deadline: December 31, 2026

    Earn a Certificate of Training in Treating Gluten-Related Disorders from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and receive grant reimbursement for your fees. Eligibility is open to registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs) in the United States who provide documentation of completion of the 5-module series, evidence of payment, and proof of current and valid, clean state licensure or registration. Grant funding is capped at $150 per dietitian.

  • SSCD Travel Grants

    Application Deadline: August 15, 2024

    The Society for the Study of Celiac Disease (SSCD) is offering a grant to support trainees with the costs of travel and/or accommodation to present celiac-related research at national or international conferences.

    Amount of the award: $1,000

    Eligibility: To be eligible, the applicant should meet the following criteria:

    Undergraduate students
    Graduate Students
    Postdoctoral Research Fellows
    Gastroenterology Fellows
    Medical Residents
    Early Career Medical Associate (RD, RN, NP, Nutritionist) within 5 years of degree attainment.

  • Celiac Disease Foundation-SSCD Improving Health Equity in Celiac Disease Through Disparities Research Grant Award

    Application Deadline: August 20, 2024

    The Improving Health Equity in Celiac Disease Through Disparities Research award supports research initiatives aimed at understanding the cultural, socioeconomic, and systemic factors that impact celiac disease awareness, diagnosis and management – including adherence to a gluten-free diet – and increasing representation of underserved populations in clinical trials. Open to SSCD members, individual projects requesting up to $100,000 USD over a maximum of two years will be considered.

  • 2025 Beyond Celiac Early Career Research Award

    Application Deadline: May 26, 2025

    With a continuing commitment to support celiac disease researchers early in their careers, Beyond Celiac is seeking applications for the 2025 Beyond Celiac Early Career Research Award.

    The award consists of a two-year grant of up to $100,000 annually, which includes up to 8 percent in indirect costs. The objective of the award is to attract highly motivated and talented early career academic investigators to the field of celiac disease. The award is intended to support a research project focused on translational research, with the potential to advance disease knowledge and accelerate discovery and/or development of treatments for celiac disease. The funding period covers October 1, 2025 – September 30, 2027.

    The grant is open internationally to scientists early in their career in celiac disease research. Applicants must have a PhD or MD (or equivalent) and have completed their training (including specialty fellowships) within 10 years of the application deadline.

    Applicants must hold a full-time position at an academic institution and the research is to be conducted in an academic institution. Individuals holding a career development award (e.g., NIH K-series or other federal or non-federal career development award) are eligible. However, the proposed research should be an extension of, or departure from, the aims proposed in the career development award.

  • Fall Travel Grants

    Application Deadline: September 10, 2025

    The Society for the Study of Celiac Disease is offering $1,000 grants to support trainees with travel and accommodation costs to present celiac-related research at national or international conferences.

    You must be one of the following:

    • Undergraduate student
    • Graduate student
    • Postdoctoral research fellow
    • Gastroenterology fellow
    • Medical resident
    • Early career medical associate (RD, RN, NP, nutritionist) within 5 years of degree attainment

    Applications are due September 10th, 2025. Applicants must be active SSCD members at the time of application.
